'Bonnington' Small Apothecary Medicine Bottle
A beautiful amber-coloured glass apothecary bottle used to store cough medicine.
The bottle features heavy embossed writing on one side which reads “Bonnington S Irish Moss Coughs & Colds”. The bottle is consistent with the style distributed between the 1930’s to 1940’s.
Invented by Australian chemist George Bonnington (1837-1901) it was a remedy for coughs, colds, asthma and influenza. The syrup is still in production today and can be found at most pharmacies.
The bottle is in very good vintage condition with no cracks or chips to the glass.
A beautiful piece of Australian history this bottle can be used as small vase, candle holder or ornament.
