The art of Josiah Wedgwood is famous in the world of decorative art. Wedgwood's invention of jasperware revolutionised the industry of decorative ceramics. Wedgwood pieces are elegant in their design and feature the bold contrast of white relief ornamentation on various colours of jasperware porcelain. The range of black Wedgwood was produced between 1878 until 1977 and remains one of the most striking designs of the jasperware collection. This particular piece was manufactured in 1976.

This heart shaped trinket tray is part of the Black Jasper range, and in particular, belongs to the playing card set of trinket trays. Within the collection the heart tray would represent one suite in a card deck alongside the club, diamond and spade shapes. These pieces were originally retailed individually and are highly collectable.

In the centre are Grecian women with leaves surrounding the trim. This piece would make the perfect jewellery trinket dish on a dresser.
